Camp Firefly was established in 2023 by Ever Cooke and friends. As young people, we understand the freedom and joy derived from being playful, interacting across age groups, and feeling autonomous in kid-led activities. Our mission is to provide a safe space for kids to learn more about themselves and others, and in doing so, begin to recognize their power and potential. Our play-based approach helps kids build strength and relational confidence for all aspects of life. What began as a backyard camp for 25 kids has since tripled in size and become a highlight each summer for families in the community. Camp Firefly is unique in that it is led entirely by high school students and staffed by middle and high school students. We design every facet of the camp using our intimate knowledge of what kids are looking for, as we are kids ourselves! We prioritize simple play, forging relationships across age groups, and the benefits of outdoor experiences. This year’s staff team is led by Ever Cooke, Founder and Director, Anne Warner, Programs Director, and Mary Scott Schutt, Operations and Marketing Director.
